The Kiwi Fruit is native to Southern China. The fuzzy, brown fruit has a bright green flesh and a unique flavor. Brought to New Zealand, its Chinese name "yang-tao" was dropped and it was named after the Kiwi bird, the New Zealand national symbol, as it and the fruit share a similar appearance - small, brown and furry.
