Osmanthus (Osmanthus fragrans) is a fall flowering evergreen shrub or small tree native to China, which is also known as the Sweet Olive, Tea Olive and Fragrant Olive. Osmanthus' fragrant flowers have an aroma reminiscent of ripe peaches or and mixed berries. This makes the plant a popular garden ornamental. Osmanthus flowers are used in China to infuse green or black tea with their wonderful flavor. They are also used in osmanthus-scented jam (gui hua gao) and various sauces, sweet cakes (gui hoa chen jiu) and cookies.

Pure Osmanthus Extract, Natural can be used to flavor gourmet ice cream. We recommend a use level of 0.50%, or 0.70 ounces of flavor per gallon (144 ounces) of ice cream base.
