The fruit of the Bitter Orange is not edible and is grown for its peel, which is used in beer, wine, sangria, and many liqueurs. Less characterizing than sweet orange, it imparts a citrusy, herbal-like flavor and aroma that balances well with many hop types. Our Pure Bitter Orange Extract, Natural can be used in a wide range of alcoholic beverages including beer, cider, wine, seltzer, and spirits. We recommend a starting use level of 0.10% to 0.30% in most alcoholic beverages and adjust to desired impact is achieved. In high proof spirits start at 0.50%. This extract is TTB approved.
